The French Prairie Bridge Task Force is meeting to consider public testimony, impact studies, cost estimates and other criteria in order to determine which bridge type to recommend to the Wilsonville City Council and the Clackamas County Board of Commissioners for consideration this spring.
Two bridge types are being reviewed; the Task Force is weighing benefits of a suspension bridge vs. a cable stay bridge. Both signature bridge types were previously identified by the Task Force for their aesthetic qualities and lower environmental impact.
The proposed French Prairie Bridge over the Willamette River would serve pedestrians, cyclists, and emergency responders. The project fills a critical gap in local and regional multi-modal transportation infrastructure, connecting the Portland metro area and the northern portion of the Willamette Valley, known as the French Prairie region.
