City to Host Public Memorial This Wednesday in Memory of Sen. Aaron Woods
August 11, 2025 — The City is hosting a memorial service this Wednesday, Aug. 13, in loving memory of Senator Aaron Woods, an Oregon legislator and long-time Wilsonville resident who left an indelible mark on his community.
This public event, to be held at Town Center Park (29600 SW Park Pl.) at 10 am, includes remarks from Mayor Shawn O'Neil, Sen. Courtney Neron Misslin, former Wilsonville mayors Tim Knapp and Julie Fitzgerald, and others who knew him well and can expound upon his legacy.
Following remarks and a eulogy delivered by Mayor O’Neil, the City is dedicating a park bench in the name of Sen. Woods, who served on the City of Wilsonville’s Development Review Board (2013-18) and Budget Committee (2020-22) prior to his election to the Senate. Woods was also a member of the board of Clackamas Community College (2022-25).
Sen. Woods was memorialized in Salem during the legislative session after his passing in mid-April, but the City is providing this first opportunity for Wilsonville residents and Senate District 13 constituents from neighboring cities to pay their respects.
Parking for this event is available at City Hall (29799 SW Town Center Loop E.) and the Wilsonville Library (8200 SW Wilsonville Rd.). Guests may take a SMART shuttle from parking areas to/from the event location.
